Good day my Borah '64 friends,

Well, the celebration of our 55th reunion is coming up soon...September 6th - 7th.  I do hope all of you are considering joining us.  55 is a pretty big deal!

Linda (Loveland) Cornelius has updated this web site with a reunion registration/payment section along with event details.  Please rsvp as soon as possible so we can determine how many classmates will be attending for planning purposes.

We will meet Friday September 6 at Lake Harbor Events Center (patio area) for a social gathering 6 pm - ?  A no-host bar will be serving.

Saturday September 7, 6pm to 11 pm we will meet in the Lake Harbor banquet room for a buffet dinner and social.

The price has been set at $30 per person.

Many of you are aware that we have been meeting the first Saturday of each month at Eddies Restaurant on Overland Rd. for over 20 years now.  We plan to meet September 7th 8 am to about 9:30 am.  If you plan to join us I need to know so I can advise them to set up the appropriate tables.  We usually have about 15 to 20 of us.

If you have not done so please consider commenting on your profile to let all know what you have been up to the past 55 years.  And, if you know contact information on those classmates shown as missing we would appreciate the update.

Take care...be well. And, thanks for the memories.

Hope to see you in September!

Steve Oliver
Borah '64

Borah Class of 1964,

Good day my friends!  I hope you are having a grand 2016 and that all is well in your life and that you continue to prosper,  bring joy to others, and...that you are "living the dream"!

As most of you know, after our 50th reunion celebration, many classmates asked our reunion committee to begin scheduling an annual mini-gathering (we just don't want to have to wait 5 years to see each other again).  So, we gathered in August, 2015 for our 51st and September, 2016  for our 52nd reunion. We plan to meet September 21st-23rd here in Boise for a no-host, casual mini-reunion to celebrate  53 years.  Details to  follows as we get closer to the date.

If you plan to attend  our 53rd reunion, please send me a quick RSVP so we can make sure to have enough space reserved.

Hope to see you see you the first Saturday of each month,  8 am at Eddies!!! Or, the 3rd Thursday of each month 3 pm at Willi B's on Chinden   WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAVE TO RECONNECT.

After graduaton, I attended BJC, Uof I and Boise State over a 5 yr. period.  Professional career included 8 years with Trus Joist Corp., owning the old Hill House restaurant, Fifers Furniture in Nampa, Nahas-Benoit Companies Commercial Real Estate, and then many years as manager of leasing and sales of commercial properties for our classmate, Gary Hawkins, owner of Hawkins Companies.
I married my sweetheart and pal Cindy in 1975 and together shared  raising 3 great kids here in Boise, traveled extensively and  so loved  just sharing  time together.   I lost my sole mate   of those 38 wonderful years unexpectedly to Pancreatic cancer last November.
I really  did enjoy attending our reunion and look forward to meeting more old classmates at Eddies Diner and upon occassion, Willie B's in the future!

July 2016 Update:  So a year ago in May I remarried an 'old' friend from the 11th grade....Linda McKissick!   I was in her wedding party many years ago .... and she introduced me to Cindy back then as well.   Small world, isn't it?!    We're  both so pleased that we can now share lives.....happily together!

Hi Everyone,
I moved from Boise three (3) months after graduation.  I traveled down to Fort Worth, Texas where I lived until 1995.  I then moved up to Iowa, couldn't take the heat any more, lol.  I was married to a Fort Worth Policeman for 13 years, until his death as a policeman.  I remarried and was married the second time for 16 years.  I divorced and moved from Texas to start over.  Never had any children but did raise 4 stepchildren.  I graduated from TCU in Texas and worked as an Account for General Dynamics, then Assistant Controller for Tandy Corporation.  Have been lucky and traveled all over the world and now I get to stay at home, wear my sweats and chill.  Live is GREAT!!

I lost my husband Bob in April of 2013 just 5 days short of our 43rd anniversary. Its been hard and every day I miss him. I had just lost my brother Jim Strong a few weeks earlier so its been a difficult year. I have my 3 children all here in Boise and 2 wonderful grandchildren ages 14 and 13.
I would like to get back into nursing parttime to get me out of the house. So far no big plans but I am sure the Lord will guide the way. It sounds like you all had a great time      Hope to see some of you in the future..Bye for now  Julie

After graduating from Borah, I went off to college in Portland.  Three years later I came back to Boise and graduated from Boise State the first semester that it was Boise State College, 1969.  I majored in chemistry and taught high school chemistry and physics for a year.  One year of teaching was enough for me.  I was fairly lucky on the rebound and that fall I went to work in the state health laboratory doing blood alcohol tests and testifying on the results.  The laboratory grew into the Idaho State Forensic Laboratory over several years.  I tend to stay in place if I am happy and I stayed with the laboratory from 1970 until I retired in 2006.  I held various positions over the years and performed several different types of examinations.  It has been extremely interesting to follow the evolution of technology as computers have become relatively inexpensive and the increasing sophistication of laboratory techniques over the years.

I met my wife Becky in 1971 and we have been married since the summer of 1972.  Her last day of work was April fool’s day this year and our only grandchild was born that same day.  We have two boys.  One lives here in Boise and the other lives in Oakland and does cancer research in South San Francisco.

I love retirement.  I stay busy volunteering, being with my family, meeting for coffee with friends, reading, fishing a little, fiddling with computing, loving life, travelling, and going to Reno/Jackpot.  We have been to Europe on a few two-week trips.  I would love to stay in Europe for an extended period of time and see more of the world now that we are both retired.  I can't believe that 50 years have gone by since we graduated from high school.

My first carreer after graduating from Boise State University was real estate brokerage in Boise. I was also the drummer for Today's Reaction, a pop/rock band.  I was a volunteer lobbyist for the Boise Board of Realtors and the Idaho Association of Realtors which lead to my second carreer of association management in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  I started sailing there and realized that sailing is better in the Seattle area so I moved to my final carreer of investment consulting to institutional clients on the west coast, serving them from Seattle. Boating and sailing is much better in the Puget Sound area. I married Nadeane Rowe and we are happily living the retirement life ... summers living aboard and cruising our boat in Puget Sound and Canadian waters, and winters skiing in McCall.  I have two daughters, a grandaughter and a grandson, all living in Boise.

It’s been an eventful, rewarding, and never dull 50 years.  Stayed in Boise after high school except for 4 years in the Wood River Valley.  Married Mike Loening in 1969 and we had one son, Mark, in 1971.  Mike was killed in a plane crash in 1977 along with his older son.  In 1979, I married Ralph Sword (Boise High, ’66) and went back to school and got my degree in Political Science in 1981 and my Masters in Public Administration in 2001 (I was on the long-term educational plan).  Our son, Scott was born in 1982.  I have spent most of my life as a disability advocate and a political junkie working on a variety of campaigns from the local to federal level - all Democrats, including my own race for the Idaho Senate in 1994. I retired as Executive Director of the Council on Developmental Disabilities last October, but continuing to do some consulting.  Ralph and I are pleased to have both Mark and Scott (and wife, Kristin) nearby along with grandson Mark (7) and granddaughter Margo Mae (2).  Another granddaughter is on the way in November. We love to travel and are looking forward to exchanging houses with a couple in France for 5 weeks this September and October.  We are pleased that we stayed in Boise.  Life has been good. Attended Boise Junior College 1964 – 1966.  Taught guitar at Baslers Music in Boise while attending college.  Moved to Portland, Oregon and worked a St. Vincent Hospital from 1967 – 1969.  Met my wife Trudy who was a Nurses Aid at the hospital.  We settled down in the Portland Metro area for 33 years.
Worked for Pacific NW Bell as an electronics technician/Supervisor for 20 years  and was promoted to Network Engineer  and Oregon Local Markets manager for another 12 years at which time I retired in 2000 after US West merged with Qwest Communications.
Immediately after retiring from Qwest, Nike hired me as a Senior Business Analyst in their IT department.  I worked for Nike for 7 years and retired a second time.  That only lasted one year and I decided to work as an IT contractor.  Regence Blue Cross hired me as an IT Systems Analyst.  My wife Trudy  and I decided to purchase an 80 acre farm 25 miles south of Salem in Scio,  on Rodgers Mountain Loop (supposedly an old volcano) while both of us continued to work full-time.  We have hired farm hands to assist us with the work while we continue to expand the farm with many variations of livestock that we manage.  I grew up on a farm but Trudy had never had any experience.  She and I both love it and woultdn’t trade it for the world.  Its hard work but it keeps us going and makes life extremely interesting.  We currently have a herd of 10 Scottish Highland cattle, 4 Lhamas,  3 Alpacas, 50 head of sheep, 20 chickens, 25 ducks, 2 horses, 2 donkeys, and 6 geese – Oh, and we just added 6 goats which we are starting to milk to make yogurt and cheese.  We are planning to continue in this mode for a while and then retire to the farm full-time in a couple of years.

I'm so bummed to miss our reunion!  Right after high school, I married in California, then had 3 wonderful sons by 25.  They are gorgeous, loving men and I not only love them...I LIKE them!  I returned to college majoring in business and theatre arts.  I've been a singer and dancer all my life and found personal passion through women's barbershop...hard to believe?  After 34 years of involvement, I coach and judge all over the world and am currently directing a chorus that has grown from 8 to 80 in just 3 1/2 years.  Enabling, coaching, and teaching other women to perform and grow in their personal confidence is an astounding joy.  I've been with my partner, Bruce, for 20 years; we share lots of humor and both love to travel.  I'd love to hear from you...I'm on Facebook and so is my chorus, Song of Sonoma Chorus.

After HS graduation I spent a year at Utah State Univ. studing EE.  Alright, I was a freshman; I studied the things you have to study before one can study one's major.  The next two years were spent on the Navajo reservation as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Ya' at' eeh!    Returning from my mission I attended BYU for a couple of years, again in a EE major, but my heart (and work ethic) was not there so I enlisted for a 4 year stint in the Navy.  I served as an Electronics Technician aboard the USS Bainbridge, a light cruiser.  After my discharge from the Navy I lived in Beaverton OR for a few months where I met and married a lovely lass by the name of Billie.  Back to Utah my bride and I went where I rematriculated at BYU, again in the EE program, but now with an emphasis on digital engineering.  Children arrived (how did that happen!?) and I left school in my senior year never to return (or, at least not yet).  I worked for Sperry Univac for 6 years and then for Novell, a networking software company, for 14 years.  1995 was the year of the birth of my last and 10th child (all boys except 6) but troubled times lay ahead.  By 2002 my marriage, which had been coming apart for years (mostly unknown of by me [what an idiot!]), ended, I was diagnosted with Grave's disease, and I lost my job.  My world turned black but, as they say, time wounds all heels, er, I mean, time heals all wounds and over the next few years I again was able to see the light in the world.  I have a bunch of really great kids and that made all the difference along with my faith.  I get along well with my ex wife and life is good.  I now have 12 grandkids with two more on the way this August.  This is the first class reunion I have attended and I look forward to renewing old friendships.

Due to a far reaching commitment that was made long before the reunion was announced, sadly we are unable to attend.   Hard as we tried, different arrangements could not be made around other's travel arrangements from long distances.   We will certainly miss being there and catching up with everyone.

After graduation from Borah, we both attended Brigham Young Univeresity.   We were married in 1968 and spent 4 years in Chicago where Riley attended Northwestern Univeersity Dental School.   After graduation, we returned to Boise to set up private dental practice and raise our family.   After 36 years, Riley retired in 2009.  Since retirement, we spent 18 months in Europe serving on a Public Affairs assignment for the LDS Church.   We also have done some Humanitarian Dentistry Service in Mexico and most recently just returned from 2 months in a cllinic on the South Sea island of Tonga.  What an adventure!  We were blessed with 5 sons and now have 13 grandchildren.   Life is good.....and the romance continues after all these years.  "Happily Ever After" does happen.

Jonathan, wife Heather, lives in Dallas and have two boys and a girl.  We moved around a bit before I retired from bank regulatory consulting in 2013. acl4jan@aol.com Customer Service Representative Married 2 2014-07-27 10:08:19
Since graduation, I have lived in Denver, San Jose, Scottsdale, and the Seattle area, finally returning to Boise in 1998.  My working "life" has been divided between co-owning several small businesses in California, administrative assistance for Hewlett-Packard for over 10 years, managing the food and beverage for Shadow Valley Golf Course for 5 years, Cabelas' Outfitter's for 7 years, and curretly I work full time for Citi Bank as a customer service representative.

Both my grown children reside in Seattle, are married and have no children.  Fortunately, my husband, Sherm Schmall, has three grown children...two in Boise and one in Seattle.  We enjoy two grandchildren in Boise; one is a senior in high school and the other is in college.

I have managed to stay in contact with my best friends from high school over the years...Karren (Smith) Hanson, Sue Stadler, and Linda (Loveland) Cornelius. Among other things, we try and manage to get together for an annual camping trip to Horse Thief Reservoir every September.

In the 1970's, I learned to sail, and also managed to acquire a private pilot's license. Now, most of my "free" time is spent enjoying cooking for friends and family.  I also have taught Chinese cooking for over 30 years, have taken/given oil painting lessons, helped teach English as a second language.

I have traveled a little, but would certainly like to consider a lot more.  I was able to spend three weeks in England, Sweden, and Denmark visiting foreign exchange students we had previously hosted in the 1980's, visited the Hawaiian islands twice, and managed to make it to Cancun last year.

I definitely have been blessed by graciousness of God!

I attended the University of Idaho after high school and graduated in 1968. Steve Oliver and I were fraternity brothers in the FIJI house. A great experience. After graduation my first job was with General Foods in Denver. There I joined the National Guard and met my wife. We have been married for 45 years, have two children and two grandchildren with another one on the way. They all live in the Portland area, so we get to see them often.

In 1975, I was awarded the Carnagie Medal of Honor for helping a Nevada highway patrolman in trouble. That experience was a challenge for me for some time and made me appreciate each day.

I worked for Safeco Insurance for 35 years and retired in 2006 as a region vice president in charge of commercial insurance. Their company reorganization was the driving force for me to retire, but in hind sight it was time to do something different.  I have found many things to keep me busy. I started a small landscaping business. Am pretty good at mowing lawns, and the beer tastes good at the end of the day.
I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, a great family and good health. Am looking forward to our 50th and catching up with everyone.

Mitch and I moved to Gig Harbor 5 years ago after living near Tacoma for 30+ years. We are blessed to have both boys and their families, including 5 beautiful grand daughters near.  I have been enjoying my retirement 11 years now. I worked as a school guidance counselor for 16 years and as a special education 12 years prior to that. My husband still works part time. I graduated from Univ. of Idaho in 1968 and became a flight attendant for Continental Airlines., stationed in Seattle.  My husband, a graduate of College of Idaho, was attending dental school at U of Washington, where we met. I spend most of my time now either in the garden or on the golf course. I am involved with the Master Gardener program and devote much time to volunteering in that area. I golf (badly) twice a week. Although we chose to live in Washington, we both realize what a great place Idaho is to grow up in. Send ann a MessageSend ann a Message

I will not be able to attend this year’s 50th reunion, but maybe number 60 (who knows).  How could it possibly have been 50 years ago that we all graduated?  After a couple of years at BJC, I went to Oregon State where I graduated with a degree in Pharmacy.  I met my wife (Barb) at OSU and we were married in 1972.  I worked for the PayLess Drug Store chain for 28 years, but left when they transitioned to Rite Aid and spent the last 8 years of my career running a college book store at Humboldt State University.  We had two children (one of each) and now have three grandchildren.  Eight years ago, I finally found my true calling… retirement (I have always been best at doing nothing).  We moved to a small town, Paso Robles, in the middle of California wine country and close to our daughter and her family.  We are doing a little traveling, enjoying life and truly feel fortunate with our lot.
Hope the reunion is great and am sorry I cannot be there.

The 50th is my first reunion since leaving Boise in '64. I graduated from the Uniersity of Colorado with a major in Science Writing and Journalism.  After two years at the University of Idaho, (and Gamma Phi Beta Sorority) I married Dennis Yriondo  (Borah Class of 61).  We currently live in Bellevue, WA, near our two sons and four grandchildren.  Dennis and I were corporate gypsies with his career at IBM.  Since leaving Idaho we've lived in Seattle, Weston, CT; Paris, France; and Boulder, CO.  My career included science writing for publications and later management of corporate marketing communications.  Now retired, Dennis and I both enjoy lots of time with grandchildren, active international travel and golf. Dennis still consults with Microsof,t and I enjoy studying piano and attending the symphony and opera (all good in the rainy Seattle winters!   We look forward to catching up with old friends in Boise.  Send Linda a MessageSend Linda a Message

Hmmmm comments?   Well, (I goofed) & did not get a single 'aging  or failing part' replaced, re-done or removed (as I planned) but NEXT time I have an opportunity, I WILL!   (Oh, that's a lie!  I do have a titanium hip.)  That $40,000+ could have easily been spent on some cosmetic issues (you know what I mean !) ..... Oh, WELL!
My one huge regret is NOT slowing down and NOT listening to my Mom.   I DO have 2 beautiful  & intelligent wonderful girls who love me!   And a very special 11-year old granddaughter, Emma.  AWESOME!

And I am still learning, Thank Heavens!!!

Good thing there is no requirement of "50 years in 50 words or less."  Still feel like an Idahoan even though I left Idaho in 1971 as a young mother of three girls.  One year later, I was a single young mother of three girls, but change is good.  Eventually - like about 12 years later - I finally finished my education (BA and MPP from UC Berkeley and JD from Hastings College of the Law).  Two of my daughters followed me in the law - one has her own practice in San Francisco and one is a law professor in Glasgow, Scotland.  Still working, mainly because I am now a partner in law firm and love trying cases in front of jury - instead of debate, I should have taken drama - who knew?? I took a "reverse retirement" in the 1990s for about 10 years - during that time my partner, Al, and I traveled throughout California for Al's participation in senior tennis tournaments, including the national seniors tournament in Palm Springs.  We still play tennis, but my days for short skirts are long gone.  Now, travel is primarily to Ashland, OR to see plays and spend time with old friends who moved to Eugene and to Glasgow to spend time with my two grandsons (and their parents of course!), who have red hair and blue eyes! After graduation I graduated with the last class of BJC (66), transferred to BYU & graduated in Food & Nutrition. After a year internship at Mass. General Hospital (along with Carol Robinson) I served a 2 year mission for the LDS Church in Uruguay.  Returned to work from '71-'74 at MGH.  Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown hired me as the in-patient dietitian and I left that position Dec. 1976 when our first son was born.  Four more children followed in close succession (5 in 7 years, what was I thinking!).  We raised our children in this beautiful part of the country and have remained to (hopefully) retire here.  I married Ric, a struggling free-lance musician and it took us a while to have full employment as I stayed home with the children until all were in school, then only did part-time work.  Currently I have been the Nutritionist and Breastfeeding Coordinator for our county's Women, Infant, Children program for 17 years and he is the internet manager at Hartwick College in town.
We have two boys in Boston, two in NYC and our daughter is in Warsaw, Poland with her husband and our 3 grandchildren.  If you ever visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, give me a call.  Would love to meet any of you.  I am not able to come to the reunion, which should be a lot of fun for all who are able.  Best to all.   Tina

Wow... 50 years.  It went by so quickly.  It's been an interesting ride.   We have travelled and seen lots of fantastic places.  We  moved from Boise to Pocatello while husband, Russ, studied architecture and we had a couple of boys. Then on to Portland, OR to have a daughter and for him to practice architecture.     Me?... I got an education in Pocatello in title insurance and had 4 jobs waiting for me when we moved to Portland.  I worked in the title side of the industry and retired as  chief title officer for Oregon working for LandAmerica..
We both enjoy the out-of-doors and over the years have spent a lot of time camping, snow-skiing, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, fishing, hunting, hiking, boating and touring our country especailly the last 10 years.  We love to spend time doing these sports and activities with old friends/classmates from Idaho, new friends from all over the world and our extended (very extended) family.  We have been fortunate to see a lot of Europe and consider Cancun, Mx our home away from home.  Still hope we will be able to see Australia and maybe some of the orient.  And hope to take more road trips in our motorhome.  Shoot, if I could have my way, I'd be a vagabond.    I love the road..   But then there are grandchildren and children that tug at my heart and keep me coming back home.   There have been some rocks in the road along the way but all in all, we have been happy and  are enjoying the ride.

Hello everyone I am looking forward to seeing you all. I have contacted many classmates via e-mail since receiving many of their address through S. O. I am planning to moving back to Boise, hopefully within a year or less. I am in the process of getting my home ready to sell. I will miss Bend, the lovely mtns, etc. Its been good to know the medical system here, but since I have been in St.Al's over the years with my mother, I am thinking its still a great hospital. St. Al's was one of three hospitals that I worked in as a student nurse. I am going back and forth to Savannah, Ga. where my sister resides. She contracted an unusual disease process and I have been able to help her thru some of the difficult times. She is unable to fly at this time, so I still go there for a visit. The one thing I learned after a trip that last 4.5 months, I would not want to live in the south but Savannah is a nice place to visit. See you in August.
